Putting Dreams on Paper...

Our goal is to educate each child to become a productive, compassionate and responsible citizen by integrating the arts into a positive experience. Children interpret their natural creative ability for personal, and social success.  Art is for everyone. All grades explore the world of art through painting, drawing, collage, printing, and sculpture.  They explore different materials, while studying the basic core elements in order to communicate effectively in. Children are introduced to classic artists, culture and history and have fun doing it!

We want our kids to be life-long learners; giving them a range of ways to learn, early on, helps feed their curiosity. Art helps children to make connections, to practice patience, and to learn to trust themselves in the creative process. And it’s fun! After investing some time and energy in art class, a student produces something tangible, touchable. It’s an achievement that’s real in a different way than a grade on a test.

Curriculum Overview

Students are taught in four basic strands: perception, creative expression/performance, historical and cultural heritage, and critical evaluation. Children rely on their perceptions of the environment, developed through increasing visual awareness and sensitivity to surroundings, memory, imagination, and life experiences, as a source for creating artworks. They express their thoughts and ideas creatively, while challenging their imagination. By analyzing artistic styles and historical periods students develop respect for the traditions and contributions of diverse cultures.  Students respond to and analyze artworks, thus contributing to the development of lifelong skills of making informed judgments and evaluations.
