Do your children eat baskets full of spinach and tomatoes?
Could they finish a marathon? Would you believe that
almost twenty-thousand Houston children have done
this over the past two years?

Our country’s health is in a crisis. There is a nationwide
obesity epidemic that is growing at an alarming rate and it
has its tight grip on our children. According to the Center for
Disease Control nearly nine million children in the United
States are overweight or obese.

As a Physical Education teacher I know there is a problem.
Students in the cafeteria eat ice cream and bags of chips
while their fish and broccoli sit on their lunch trays
untouched. Many children cannot play a game of tag or run
200 meters without stopping to walk. The severity of this crisis
slapped me in the face when a first grader that I was
measuring one year weighed more than me! Not long after
that I heard Kay Morris talk at a conference and I knew there
was hope.
