Harvard's annual One Book...One School reading event kicked off on Friday, February 10th with a school assembly led by reading specialist, Amanda Makin. This is the third year the school has sponsored this event that involves all students, parents, teachers, and staff members. Everyone reads the same book over a three week period! This year we are reading The Magician's Elephant by Kate DiCamillo. During the three weeks students follow a reading schedule and complete a study guide and reading log. Each morning during the school announcements, trivia questions are asked and students respond in hopes of winning a prize. The goal of One Book...One School is to unify Harvard's community through the joy of sharing in a good story. As part of our 2012 One Book...One School event we will participate in an IB Action Project. We will be accepting donations for The Elephants Sanctuary in Hohenwald, Tennessee. This is the largest elephant sanctuary in the country that protects endangered elephants.
Send us a picture of your family reading the book together.
