PHYSICAL EDUCATION | Challenging the Body
Physical education is an integral part of the total education of every child. Physical education is needed to increase physical competence, health-related fitness, self responsibility, and enjoyment of physical activity for all students so that they can be physically active for a lifetime.
All children meet 50 minutes, once a week. Each grade level participates in appropriately planned activities such as: basketball, soccer, baseball, dodge ball, and track & field. |

In P.E., children have fun while learning to live healthy lives.
Ms. Sipps likes getting to know every student at Harvard,
and seeing their physical abilities and sportsmanship
develop year after year. “And,” she exclaims, “we get to
play together!”
A P.E. teacher for fiteen years, she got her
start as a girl playing outside with her four big brothers. |

Now, in addition to structuring classes for all ages, she
directs special events, like Healthy Harvard Happenin’,
Marathon Kids and the Harvard Fun Run, aimed to
encourage kids to eat right and move their bodies.
This
year, the entire school will participate in its first Mini-Olympics just before Spring Break.
So exercise with your
child. Eat well at home.
Let the games begin! |
