The Heart of Our School
Children stream in and out of it all day long. When they leave with a book, they carry a precious resource vital to educational life. Now—and for years to come—Harvard students will learn to read in an environment that conveys the joy and wonder in the world of books. Well known Heights-area muralist Suzanne Sellers has rendered scenes from beloved children’s books on the walls.
On August 8, 2007 Houston Independent School District’s Board of Education, honored Mrs. Patricia A. Tubbs with a Board Commendation and officially named the new Harvard library, The Charles B. and Patricia A. Tubbs Children’s Library, for her generousity through the Tubbs Charitable Trust.
Accelerated Reader
You may access Accelerated Reader to view your child's progress. Student user names and passwords are available from your child's teacher for students in grades 1-5. While Accelerated Reader tests can only be taken at school, AR BookFinder will assist you in viewing books and their point values.
Lexile Levels
A Lexile level is a valuable piece of information about either and individual's ability or the difficulty of a text, like a book or magazine. Harvard students received their Lexile level based on their Stanford10/Aprenda 3 tests. If your child does not their level, please contact your child's teacher in grade 1-5. You may locate the Lexile level for books at The Lexile Framework for Reading.
