Mr. Schaff runs our technology lab where each student gets to work at an individual station using a new Hewlett Packard computer which runs a Microsoft XP Operating System.
We integrate technology in the maximum appropriate manner into the regular classroom curriculum. While the technology department has its own goals and outcomes. For example, fourth grade students learn how to use presentation software so that they can present the results of their social studies classroom research on deserts or animals.
Fifth grade students learn to use spreadsheets when they analyze and graph the data they collect in science or math class. Our math curriculum is enhanced by the use of math software that reinforces specific math concepts.
With a combination of whole group and individual work, students are able to successfully practice and master their technology skills in an exciting setting. |
Most parents worry that their children are more computer literate then they are. Parents must always remember the investment that they have made, both in the child and in the computer.
If parents commit the time necessary for such a significant investment, parents can make their child's experience both positive, productive, and educational.
Robotics studies round out our technology offerings, and Harvard is one of the few elementary schools in the city taking students to competition.
Through the use of digital photography, desktop publishing, digital movies, graphics, productivity tools, and the Internet research, our students are getting a jump-start on the technology skills necessary to careers and personal use requirements in the 21st century.
